Subaru All-Around Safety

At Subaru, safety comes first. That‘s why Subaru has been fine-tuning testing, and retesting its advanced safety features for over 50 years.
With the latest in collision protection and core technologies, Subaru continues its ‘people first‘ policy by improving All-Around Safety and envisions an accident-free future.

Primary Safety

Outstanding visibility, optimal driving position, and intuitive controls help keep you safe from the moment you enter your vehicle.

High Visibility

The all-new SUBARU BRZ provides a wider outside view with the horizontally styled instrument panel and lower meter hood position, so you feel safe and concentrate on enjoying your drive.

Preventive Safety

Advanced safety technologies such as EyeSight*¹ helps avoid collisions before they happen.

Subaru Rear Vehicle Detection (SRVD)*²

Sensors placed around the vehicle alert you of vehicles in your rear blind spots for safer lane changes. It also warns you of potential collision danger while driving in reverse into a street with cross traffic.

Reverse Automatic Braking (RAB)*²*³

When in Reverse, four sensors on the rear bumper detect obstructions behind the vehicle. If detected, the system can alert the driver with warning sounds and automatically apply the brakes to avoid a collision or reduce collision damage.

Steering Responsive Headlights (SRH)

See better around corners at night. These headlights operate interconnectedly with steering input to aim your lights in the direction your vehicle is turning.

High Beam Assist (HBA)*²*⁴

See better and stay safer during nighttime driving. High Beam Assist detects light ahead and toggles the high beams on and off automatically, depending on driving conditions.

Subaru EyeSight Driver Assist Technology

EyeSight*¹, Subaru‘s cutting-edge driving support system, works like a second pair of eyes for the road ahead. Two stereo cameras capture three-dimensional colour images with image recognition nearly as capable as the human eye to detect potential dangers like vehicles, motorbikes, bicycles, and pedestrians.*² It warns the driver and even applies the brakes if necessary to help avoid an accident and reduces burden on the driver while enhancing your sense of security in the all-new SUBARU BRZ.

Adaptive Cruise Control

Designed for use on freeways, highways, and similar roads, this system monitors distance and speed difference from the lead vehicle to keep your speed in line with traffic flow, as well as detect the lead vehicle's brake lamps to help keep pace in stop-and-go highway traffic—a comfort and convenience on long drives.

Lane Sway and Departure Warning

To assist safer driving, if your vehicle sways or departs from its lane, the system helps you stay alert with a buzzer and flashing indicator.

Pre-Collision Braking System*⁵

This system can alert the driver with a buzzer and a flashing indicator when it senses an impending frontal collision. If evasive actions are not taken, the system can automatically apply the brakes to reduce impact damage or prevent the collisoin.

Lead Vehicle Start Alert

When you're at a stop and EyeSight detects that traffic has started moving again, Lead Vehicle Start Alert prompts the driver to take action with a buzzer and a flashing indicator.

Pre-Collision Throttle Management

When EyeSight detects an obstacle in front and you put the vehicle in Drive instead of Reverse, Pre-Collision Throttle Management sounds several short beeps, turns on a flashing indicator and cuts the engine output to help you avoid a frontal collision.

*¹ EyeSight is a driving support system which may not operate optimally under all driving conditions. The driver is always responsible for safe and attentive driving and observance of traffic regulations. System effectiveness depends on many factors such as vehicle maintenance, weather, and road conditions. See Owner‘s Manual for complete details on system operation and limitations for EyeSight including functions in this brochure.
*² The driver is always responsible for safe and attentive driving and observance of traffic regulations. Please do not depend solely on the Advanced Safety Package features for safe driving. There are limitations to the features of this system. See Owner’s Manual for complete details on system operation and limitations. Please ask your retailer for more details.
*³ Standard on AT models.
*⁴ Standard on models equipped with EyeSight.
*⁵ Pre-Collision Braking System may not work in all situations. Depending on the speed difference from objects, the object‘s height, and other conditions, every situation may not meet the necessary conditions for EyeSight to work optimally.

Active Safety

Subaru‘s core technologies allow precise control of the basic elements of driving—driving, turning, and braking.

Excellent Hazard Avoidance

Vehicle Stability Control

Passive Safety

Designed to keep you safe in the event of a collision with features such as the cabin-protecting engine layout and SRS* airbags.

Ring-shaped Reinforcement Frame

The all-new SUBARU BRZ offers excellent collision protection with a high-tensile inner frame structure that helps dissipate impact energy away from occupants in a collision and improves overall vehicle torsional rigidity.

SRS* Airbags

In the event of a collision, the front SRS* airbags, front-side SRS* airbags, curtain SRS* airbags, and a knee SRS* airbag for the driver provides improved occupant protection.
